Curbing The Costs Of Education

Education should be free if not free then affordable especially basic education, education should be easily accessible, insitu(made to suit the people in a particular region), made to solve current needs/ trends(up-to-date) problems, and education should be enshrined in experiential lessons.

But the educational system has an ordeal plaguing it for eons, which is the costs of education and the expenses involved in making sure students get the best out of education, hence becoming responsible citizens.

What Makes Education Expensive

We can try to borrow the concept of reusable rockets to try and cut down on the resources making education expensive. An example is the school buildings, these buildings can stay for eons and still house students when a good maintenance culture and proactiveness are/ is observed hence no little to no expenses are passed to parents.

Solution

Below are some solutions I suggest when looked into, it could help curb such expenses passed to parents;

  • Recycling/ repurposing of textbooks and resources for the next group of students.
  • Applying for financial aid.
  • Aid from NGOs- for education.
  • Scholarship programs.
  • Partnerships to subsidize expensive educational resources
  • Resources that can be handled by parents shouldn’t be handled by the school.
  • Subjects that can be taught /acquired at home shouldn’t be taught in school even though it might lead to job losses but it would depend on the relevance of the subject to the current demands of the market.
  • Encourage students to keep books and school resources safe for the next generation of students.
  • Communication can be made using USSD by partnering with telcos so guardians, students & teachers have access to information for free.
  • Formation of a body that really understands the trends in education and tailors make relevant educational resources/ subjects to schools. This should include all stakeholders involved with the inclusion of students so that their voices are heard/ factored in the decision-making process.

I believe my thoughts on the afore explained hold water.
